Lakewood announces 2011-12 headliners

Lakewood Theatre Company will celebrate its 59th anniversary season with six productions on its Mainstage and three productions on the Side Door stage beginning July 8, 2011. The productions of "Annie Get Your Gun" and "White Christmas" will be Portland premieres.

The new season includes:

"Boeing-Boeing," by Marc Camoletti, July 8 through Aug. 21, 2011. Translated from French by Beverly Cross and Francis Evans, directed by Alan Shearman. Bernard, a successful architect living in Paris, thinks he can easily juggle his three flight attendant fiancées. It's all a question of timing and a little help from his housekeeper who reluctantly plays a romantic air traffic controller. When an old friend arrives and his three fiancées each change their flight schedules, Bernard's life hits some turbulence. This 2008 Tony Award-winning play for Best Revival is a Portland premiere.

"Annie Get Your Gun," Sept. 9 through Oct. 16, 2011, with original book by Herbert and Dorothy Fields, music and lyrics by Irving Berlin. Ron Daumn directs this beloved musical, which features blockbuster numbers like "There's No Business Like Show Business," "They Say That Falling in Love is Wonderful," and "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better."

"White Christmas," Nov. 4 through Dec. 18, 2011 with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and book by David Ives and Paul Blake. Dan Murphy directs thisnew musical based on the 1954 hit movie. Two Army buddies, Bob and Phil, have a successful song and dance act after the war. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters to a Christmas gig at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by their former Army commander. The boys soon realize they are the only guests at the resort because there is no snow. In order to help the General, they come up with a scheme to bring in a crowd. The show features classic Berlin hits such as "Blue Skies," "Sisters," "Happy Holiday," "Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep," and of course, "White Christmas."

This is a Portland premiere.

"Deadly Murder," by David Foley, and directed by Alan Shearman runs Jan. 13 through Feb. 19, 2012. Camille Dargus has fought her way up the ladder of success. She has beauty, talent and a limitless supply of money. She also has secrets, which threaten her charmed life. One explosive night she is taken hostage and held at gunpoint. She must use all her wits and cunning to save her life. A suspenseful and exciting thriller.
