James Franco: University lecturer

James Franco is adding teacher to his long CV after becoming a lecturer at New York University.

The actor, writer, artist and Oscars host is to lecture a class in directing at NYU's Karbar Institute of Film and Television at the Greenwich Village-based campus, E! News reports.

An NYU spokesman confirmed: "He will be teaching a section of a third year directing class in the graduate film division. It will comprise of 10 to 12 students."

The class, which has unsurprisingly already been filled, will begin in the autumn and the group will make a short film adaptation of a poem by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Louise Gluck.

John Tintori, chair of the NYU graduate film programme, said: "James has an amazing mind and limitless energy.

"Our students will be fortunate to learn from him. We anticipate the students in his class will feel especially privileged to have him as a teacher."

The 127 Hours star is currently in the middle of studying for a Ph.D. in English at Yale University.
