Celebrities mourn loss of legend Elizabeth Taylor

Reaction to the death of screen legend Elizabeth Taylor was swift in the celebrity world. She died Wednesday at age 79. Taylor had starring roles in such Hollywood classics as “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” and “Cleopatra.”

“We have just lost a Hollywood giant,” longtime friend Elton John said. “More importantly, we have lost an incredible human being.”

“Elizabeth and I began our careers about the same time at MGM,” actress Angela Lansbury said. “Throughout her tumultuous life, she will be remembered for some unique and memorable work. And she will be ever remembered and appreciated for her forthright support of amfAR.”

Some celebrities took to Twitter to express their grief.

“Elizabeth, thank you for all your help in the battle for HIV and AIDS,” tweeted former basketball star Magic Johnson, who was diagnosed with HIV in 1991. “You will be missed by the world.”

“Elizabeth Taylor was the last of the Hollywood greats, and a fantastically charming woman,” singer George Michael tweeted.

In case it wasn’t obvious from the fact that he (allegedly) broke a window after an interviewer asked him about Rihanna, a source said Chris Brown is “upset” about how the “Good Morning America” segment went.

“He’s been trying to move on from his past and focus on his music, and he’s finally putting out an album,” the source told People magazine. “Why can’t we focus on that? He makes great music and he loves his fans. He’s a good kid.”

The R&B singer reportedly went ballistic Tuesday morning and smashed a window at ABC’s studios after Robin Roberts asked him about the infamous incident two years ago when he assaulted his then-girlfriend.

Chris is still on probation, but a source told Radar Online he probably won’t be cited with a violation: “The police weren’t called, and unless ABC decides to call the NYPD, no action will be taken against Brown.

“No one saw Chris break the window. It would be a different scenario if the cops were called, which would prompt Brown’s probation officer to become involved.”

So apparently all he has to worry about is the effect on his new album’s sales.

Renee Zellweger is evidently doing her best to move on after her split from Bradley Cooper. The actress enjoyed a solo weekend in NYC (where she was, ahem, spotted picking up a self-help book) and then spent some quality time with Sandra Bullock.

The Oscar winners met privately at Sandy’s apartment in the city, so we can only imagine what they vented about. Perhaps they were affirming solidarity in the face of that Star magazine cover story claiming Bradley was “sneaking out” with Sandra during his romance with Renee? (“Bradley has been looking for a way out of this relationship for months,” a source reportedly told the tabloid of ill repute.)

Since parting ways with the “Limitless” actor, Renee is “really good,” a source told People magazine. “She’s going out with friends and she’s moving on.”

And this breakup could bode well for the “Bridget Jones’ Diary” star’s career.

“She hasn’t been working because she wanted to really put time and energy into the relationship,” the insider said. “And now she’s going back to work.”

We’re pretty sure this is where we’re supposed to say, “You go, girlfriend!”
