ZiXi and Teradek Unveil the Smallest Mobile, Field Reporting Solution

The new Teradek Cube(TM) with ZiXi Ready(TM) camera and display solution, which will be showcased at this week's International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, gives freelance and professional cameramen and broadcasters the ability to uplink content from the field more affordably by eliminating the need for expensive mobile satellite trucks or fiber lines.

Teradek is integrating ZiXi Ready software into its Cube(TM) family of products, the world's first camera-top streaming HD video devices. Designed for placement on small handheld or professional field monitors, the new Teradek Cube with ZiXi Ready solution weighs only 7 ounces and is about the size of a deck of cards, making it the smallest and lightest pocket-size camera-top encoder available. Comprised of a Cube encoder, decoder and ZiXi software, the solution mounts easily to a rail system, cage, hotshoe, or camera baseplate, meaning no backpack is needed, and uses only 2.5W of DC power. Teradek Cube with ZiXi Ready connects via an Ethernet, Wi-Fi or cellular connection to a video switch at a studio and to multiple monitors for video production, enabling broadcasters to transmit broadcast-quality news from the field with greater quality and at a substantially lower cost. In addition, broadcasters are able to reach affiliates that would otherwise be cost prohibitive to connect to, without requiring any changes in workflow or content formats.
