5 Things You Need To Know Today, Sept. 9 - Danvers, MA Patch

Happy Friday! Before you start your weekend, check out the five things you need to know today, Sept. 9:

1. Who is excited for DHS Football? The season kicks off tonight at 7 p.m. in Winthrop--we'll have you covered with recaps of the game tomorrow morning. For now, check out our season preview and coach spotlight, coming this morning. 

2. It's been a rainy week in Danvers, but we're hoping the weekend is looking better. According to the National Weather Service, weekend forecasts are looking mostly sunny, with highs reaching 73 degrees, and lows around 53 degrees. 

3. There are tons of events going on in town this weekend. Be sure to check back at 10 a.m. for our top five picks. 

4. Operation Troop Support posted on their Facebook page that they're organizing care packages for the troops with any kind of snacks, and/or socks. Donations can be dropped off at 16 Trinity St., dropped off with Jim George in Danvers Square on Saturdays from 2-4 p.m. near the flag, or to the care package event on the Sept. 17 at the VFW. 

5. Looking to rent a movie this weekend? According to Red Box, the top five rented movies in Danvers this week were: Rio, Limitless, Tyler Perry: Madea's Big Happy Family, Priest, and Arthur.
