Makers of Angry Birds Needs More Than $1 Billion USD?

The maker of the popular mobile device game “Angry Birds” is seeking quite a bit of funding – $1.2 billion USD, in fact.  That’s just about £734 million.  So, what do they need it for?

Rovio, based in Finland, has a lot on the horizon.  In the past, it was able to raise almost £26 million for its endeavours, but it looks like the company needs even more money to expand now.  What does Rovio have on its plate?  The not so simple answer to that question is – a full-feature length movie, opening more offices both in and outside of Finland, more toys, more games, and expanding into the Chinese market.

Angry Birds has been a breakout smash success ever since it was launched back in 2009 and it can now be found on just about any mobile device platform.  It is even on the web, now.  Some experts believe that the potential for expansion is virtually limitless – for example how about theme park rides, television shows, and just about anything else.

If you haven’t already downloaded Angry Birds onto your SmartPhone or tablet, you are one of very few people.  The makers offer Angry Birds in both free and paid versions, though they will differ slightly.

However, it is important to remember that Rovio is no stranger to success. Before Angry Birds, the company introduced more than 50 other mobile games.  It is also market-savvy and frequently changes its monetization strategy.
