5 Things You Need To Know Today, Aug. 26 - Danvers, MA Patch

Happy Friday! Here are five things you need to know today, Aug. 26:

1. We'll be updating Danvers Patch, Facebook, and Twitter on all things Hurricane Irene throughout the weekend. If you have photos, news, or anything you'd like to share about the impending storm, e-mail editor Molly Buccini.

2. We wouldn't know a hurricane was on its way based on today's weather forecast: mostly sunny skies are predicted, with a high near 81 degrees. Sounds good to us!

3. This Sunday might be a good day to stay in with a movie. According to Red Box, the top five rented movies this week in Danvers were: Limitless, Priest, Arthur, Soul Surfer, and The Conspirator.

4. Saturday's weather forecast isn't bad--so take advantage of it and head over to Wenham for Wenham Days. We'll be there along with Hamilton-Wenham Patch to chat and hand out some fun giveaways. The event will last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

5. Calling all baseball lovers! It was on this day in 1939 that the first major league baseball game was televised. The game was between the Cincinnati Reds and the Brooklyn Dodgers. Meanwhile in 2011, the Sox will take on Oakland tonight at 7:10, and tomorrow at both noon and 5 p.m.  (it was originally scheduled for Sunday, but moved forward due to the impending hurricane.)

For a full list of today's happenings, head over to our Events Calendar.
