Get Going with VIDEOS: Horses, superheroes, art and beer

Pride may be over, but in San Diego the party never stops.

From opening day at the races, to a special concert by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence; Comic-Con may be the hottest ticket in town, but America's finest city has plenty of other options, including one of the largest beer festivals, culture and cocktails at the museum of art, sand castle competitions, comedy, and much more!

Calling all geeks: Balboa Theatre presents a high-energy night of music acts, readings, comedy, demonstrations, short films, special guests, and other clever widgets. It is time for wOOtstock 3.0 . The one-night only performance is Thursday, July 21st at 7 pm, and is hosted by Adam Savage from "Mythbusters" fame. Cost: $37.50 .

Hershey Felder in Maestro: The Art of Leonard Bernstein opens on Friday, July 22 at The Old Globe Theatre . Discover the limitless life of the world’s musical ambassador, who was a conductor, composer, pianist, author, teacher, librettist, and television star. Cost: $39 - $84 .

Gaming enthusiasts looking for an alternative to Comic-Con need to look no further. The Tenth Avenue Theatre presents Gam3rCon from noon to midnight July 19 through July 24 . From dice, cards and tabletop games, to the latest innovations in video games, this interactive event will also feature four floors of gaming tournaments, live theater, rooftop parties, and industry panels. Cost: One day ticket $5. Week-long pass $10 .

Flicks in Hillcrest will be serving up laughs again for the first time since the mid-1990s. Comedian Wendy Liebman will kick off the hilarity on Thursday, July 21 at 10 pm. Cost: $10 .

The Brew Ha Ha Comedy Entertainment team will host another weekend of laughter. With the hilarious radio star Dangerous Dick on Saturday, July 23 at 4590 Park Blvd in University Heights and from the Latino Laugh Festival and NBC's comedy nights Danny Villapando on Sunday, July 24 at the Moxie Theatre in El Cajon. The Horton Grand Theatre will host a special comedy event - Big Mike vs The Con ! This after-hours event begins at 11 pm on Thursday, July 21 and Friday, July 22 and features performances from Mark Christopher Lawrence (Big Mike on NBC's Chuck), Vicki Barbolak, Lester Barrie, Jimmy Burns, Chris Clobber, Scott Krinsky and Scott Wood. Cost: $35 - $45 .

On Saturday, July 23 head on over to the Balboa Theatre and check out Demetri Martin , The Daily Show's former correspondent, for a special night of laughter at 7 pm. Cost: $33 .

Tonight it's 80's night at the coolest movie experience in San Diego. Relax poolside while watching The Pearl Hotel's Dive-in Theatre screening of Down and Out in Beverly Hills , starring Nick Nolte, Bette Midler and Richard Dreyfuss. Cost: Free, but bring cash for food and drinks .

Watch two film classics at Cinema Under the Stars in Mission Hills this week. Beginning with "Splendor In the Grass" starring Warren Beatty and Natalie Wood, as two teens tormented by adolescent sexuality on Thursday, July 21 and Friday, July 22 . On Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24 relive the Coen brother's comedy classic, Raising Arizona , starring Nicholas Cage and Holly Hunter. All shows begin at 8:30 pm. Cost: $14 - $15 . The San Diego Public Library (located downtown in East Village) presents a special Comic-Con movie screening starring Martin Landau and Shirley Knight. The Man Who Was Never Born screens Thursday, July 21 and Friday, July 22 at 1:30 pm. Cost: Free .

On Monday, July 25 the library will also offer a free screening of the 2009 documentary Mugabe and the White African , which chronicles a white family's challenge of the land redistribution program that began in 2000 in Chegutu, Zimbabwe. Film begins at 6:30 pm.

The San Diego Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence host the 2011 Legacy Concert-A Celebration of LGBT History on Saturday, July 23 at San Diego LGBT Center. Enjoy performances by the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus, the San Diego Women’s Chorus, In aChord and a youth talent showcase. The concert begins at 5 pm and benefits the Center's Youth Programs. "Think of it as sort of a micro-Pride, but without the semi-nudity or alcohol," said Sister Bianca Tempt. Cost: $10 suggested donation .

It is time to head over to Del Mar "where the turf meets the surf." That's right, the Del Mar Horse Racing Season begins Wednesday, July 20 and runs through Labor Day. Opening weekend will feature a free G Love & Special Sauce concert with race track admission on Friday, July 22 . Here's a sneak peek at the 2011 Del Mar concert series:

San Diego's Museum of Art will host Culture & Cocktails: From El Greco to Dali this Thursday, July 21 at 7 pm. Enjoy Spain's rich art history while sipping on Spanish sangria and other specialty cocktails. Plus there's an after-party as well. Cost: $15 .

Thinking of heading to the beach this weekend? Head down to Imperial Beach for the 2011 U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition taking place Friday, July 22 through Sunday, July 24 . The three day festival begins with a party on Friday, and amateurs will compete alongside professionals Sunday in various sand castle building categories. Cost: Free to watch .

Qualcomm Stadium will host America's Finest Beer Festival on Friday, July 22 through Sunday, July 24 . Each day attendees will enjoy over 120 beers on tap while rocking out to a musical line-up that includes Pinback and Blues Traveler. Cost: $35 - $49 per day . See what's in store:

And last, but certainly not least, it is time to get out the superhero costume from your closet. Comic-Con 2011 takes place July, 21 through July, 24 . Tickets are sold out and those who have them will have access to some of the hottest parties and panels, including stars from hit shows like "True Blood" and "Glee." If you couldn't get a ticket, many of downtown's establishments will be hosting Comic-Con related events, plus many of the patios are perfect for people watching.
