Shae Gargis, Leighton, received the Diana Ashe-Clayton memorial scholarship through the Foundation at Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Colbert County High School, she was a member of Future Business Leaders of America and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. She plans to major in nursing.

Laken Hood, Hackleburg, received an academic scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Hackleburg High School, she was a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Junior Civitan, Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. The daughter of Steve and Tammy Hood, she plans to major in physical therapy.

Joshua Andrew Howard, Rogersville, received a David McMeans memorial scholarship from the Foundation at Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Lauderdale County High School, he was a member of Future Farmers of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association. He was selected as most country in senior who’s who. The son of Marlena Howard and Barry Howard, he plans to major in welding.

Victoria M. Patterson, Vina, received a salutatorian scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Vina High School, she was Future Business Leaders of America president, class vice president and salutatorian. The daughter of Chris and Tonya Cochran, she plans to major in

nursing.

Ashli Johnson, Muscle Shoals, received a Cody Randall Fisher memorial scholarship through the Foundation at Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Colbert County High School, she was a member of Future Business Leaders of America, newspaper staff and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She plans to major in radiology.

Stanley Eric George, Vina, received an academic scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. He is a graduate of Vina High School. The son of Stanley George and Jeannie George, he plans to major in aerospace engineering.

Phoenix Young, Lexington, received the Franklin A. Fenfesty memorial scholarship through the Foundation at Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Lexington High School, she was a member of Mu Alpha Theta. She plans to major in chemistry.

Brayden Scott Price, Muscle Shoals, received a Grainger scholarship through the Foundation at

Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Muscle Shoals High School, he was a member of Skills USA and president of Muscle Shoals Student Anglers.

Mary E. Stackhouse, Florence, received a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University, Boston, Mass., in May.

Sarah L. Frisbie, Florence, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Samford University, Birmingham, for earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

Ashley Askew, Russellville, received the June Hester memorial scholarship through the Foundation at Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Russellville High School, she was a member of National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Franklin County Junior Leadership, Health Occupations Students of America, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, chemistry and science clubs, Future Farmers of America and Peer Outreach, Willing, Encouraging, Reaching Goals team.

John O. Posey, Tuscumbia, received the Integrated Corporate Solutions Scholarship through the Foundation at Northwest-Shoals Community College. He is a graduate of Muscle Shoals Bible Academy. The son of Philip and Kathy Posey, he plans to major in computer information systems.

Rebecca Wilson, Rogersville, received a David McMeans memorial scholarship through the Foundation at Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Lauderdale County High School, she was a class favorite and member of prom court and yearbook staff. She plans to major in nursing.

Kellie Lynn Sella, Red Bay, received a Dr. William A. Hailey scholarship from the University of North Alabama. An incoming senior at UNA, she is the daughter of Paul and Sheree Sella.

John Posey received a scholarship from Tennessee Valley Authority and Sheffield Utilities. A graduate of Muscle Shoals Bible Academy, he participated in NASA’s Interdisciplinary National Science Program Incorporating Research and Education Experience. The son of Phillip Posey, he plans to major in computer information systems at Northwest-Shoals Community College.

Heather Leyde and Addison Springer, both of Florence, were named to the spring semester chancellor’s list at Troy University for earning a 4.0 grade-point average.

Channing Turner, Muscle Shoals, received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in May. She is the daughter of Larry and Andrea Turner.

Local students who received doctor of veterinary medicine degrees from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine include:

Regan Harp, a graduate of Coffee High School and the University of Wyoming. The son of Ted and Jana Harp, he was a member of the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Kimberly Smith, a graduate of Bradshaw High School and Auburn University. The daughter of Randall and Cindy Smith, she graduated cum laude and was a member of Omega Tau Sigma international veterinary fraternity.

Katie Melvin, Florence, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Georgia Institute of Technology for earning at least a 3.0 grade-point average.

He plans to major in welding.

Meagan Danielle Kirby, Moulton, received an applied technology scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College, where she will serve as an ambassador. A graduate of Lawrence County High School, she was a member of Health Occupations Students of America, yearbook staff and spirit club. The daughter of Calvin and Wendy Bolden and Jeremy Kirby, she plans to major in nursing.

Kirsten Marissa Moore, Florence, received the Listerhill Credit Union Scholarship through the Foundation at Northwest-Shoals Community College.
